STAN BROMILOW On Wednesday, August 13, 2003, Stan Bromilow died peacefully at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, MB. He is survived by his loving sons, David (Alma), Michael (Gloria) and John (Barbara) five grandchildren, Michael (Tara), Karen (Michael), Catharine (Dylan), Maria (David) and Kristen; his sisters, Fran (Jack), Dorothy and Mildred (Red). He was predeceased by his wife Alice in August 2002 and his brother Wilfred. Stan was born in Winnipeg on July 1, 1919 and grew up in the west end on Banning Street. He attended St. Pauls High School and afterwards worked at Marshal-Wells where he met his future wife Alice James. They were married on August 15, 1942 and made their first home in Moose Jaw, where Stan, a flight trainer in the RCAF was posted. Returning to Winnipeg, he worked for many years for Prairie Equipment, taking personal pride in the heavy equipment he sold and great pleasure in the people he met. After retiring from Prairie, Stan, who liked to be busy, obtained his real estate license and worked for several more years. His leisure time revolved around lake and cottage, first at Ponemah, with family and good friends, the Petersons, and then at Big Whiteshell, with neighbours, Beallys and Enns and friend Del. The cottage was the site of many family gatherings and Stan loved to have us all around. He enjoyed being out in the boat, tinkering with the motor with Harry, and had enormous patience with aspiring water skiers! In later years, he especially enjoyed the challenges of sailboats and greatly appreciated the convenience of Enns Marina. Stan experienced ill health in the last few years of his life and was grateful for his friends visits. The affectionate care that he received first at Deer Lodge and recently at Kin Place in Oakbank is greatly appreciated by his family. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd. If friends so wish, donations in Stans memory may be made to Kin Place Personal Care Home, Box 28, Oakbank, MB R0E 1J0 or to a charity of ones choice.
