Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ROY GRUNDY, CPO2 (RETIRED) William Roy Grundy, at the age of 65 years, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Roy remained dignified and courageous during his illness and his wonderful sense of humour was a source of strength for his family to the very end. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Glynis, children, Jennifer (John) and Todd; granddaughter Aingeal. He is also survived by sister Pat (Gord), niece and nephews and all of his wonderful friends. Roy was born September 21, 1937 in Edmonton, AB and raised in Winnipeg. He was involved with the naval cadets from an early age and continued in the Navy Reserve up to his retirement from HMCS Chippawa as a CPO2 after 37 years of service. Roy was employed with Manitoba Telephone System for 31 years retiring in December 1999. In July 2000 Roy began a new and challenging career as a fibre optic technician based out of New York City working for MCI and Worldcom prior to September 11, 2001. He returned back to Winnipeg to enjoy retirement at his trailer at Spruce Sands with many friends and family. Special appreciation and thanks are extended to staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, and to Dr. Lezsack, the nurses in the oncology unit of Seven Oaks Cancer Care Unit for all their care and compassion. We would also like to thank the many family and friends who were with us in attendance and spirit. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Thursday, August 21 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Roys memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
