FREDA MURIEL KITCHEN (nee BASTIN) Peacefully, with family at her side, Freda passed away on August 14, 2003 at the Central Park Lodge, one week before her ninetieth birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred in November 1997. She leaves to mourn two sisters, Helen Bastin (Vancouver, BC) and Joan Harrison (Winnipeg, MB) daughter Mary Jane (Rick) Mathews (Thompson, MB) sons, Robert Kitchen (Vancouver) and Michael Kitchen (Winnipeg) two grandchildren, Jennifer and Dell; one great-granddaughter Ivy Mae; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Married on October 11, 1941, Alfred and Freda enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Freda graduated from nursing from the Vancouver General Hospital in 1937 and nursed in Vancouver as well as England. Freda enjoyed over 40 years at the cottage at Gull Lake, spent 20 winters in Lake Wales, Florida, and loved to travel around the globe. The family would like to say thank you for the care and support of the nurses and staff at Central Park Lodge Poseidon Bay, especially Liz, Kelly, Kim, Diane, Karen, Wanda, and Doris. Service will be held on Wednesday, August 20 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
