ANNIEBELLE LAPOINTE (nee BOHRN) Anniebelle was born and raised on the family farm near Miniota, MB. She passed away in Winnipeg at the age of 81, following a courageous battle with cancer. Anniebelle was predeceased in 2002 by husband Lou, and is survived by her seven children, Janice Stainthorpe and husband Ron of Grand Cayman, Lou (Butch) and wife Susan of Portage, John and wife Carol of Red Deer, Carman Lapointe Young of Ottawa, Eva Jason and husband David of Grand Cayman, Chris of Calgary, and JoAnn McKenzie and husband Robin of Winnipeg; brother Max Bohrn and wife Mae of Miniota; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In 1940, Anniebelle married the handsome soldier whod swept her off her feet only a week earlier in Winnipegs Central Park, and kissed him goodbye two weeks later to await his return from overseas five years later. They moved to Brandon in 1957 to raise their large family on 11th Street East. They returned to Winnipeg in 1998 when Lou was admitted to Deer Lodge, where Anniebelle visited him daily. Anniebelle was a long time volunteer with St. Johns Ambulance, and active in the Brandon Horticultural Society. Anniebelle retired from McKenzie Seeds in 1987. Our mom had a knack for sewing, needlework, gardening, cooking and baking, and "knowing what those kids were up to" (or so she thought...). Looking back, we marvel at how well Mom ran our household that also included her parents in later years. Sunday dinners were always a big event, and stretchable to accommodate any number of relatives or drop-ins. Our heartfelt thanks to those who made her last years comfortable, including CancerCare MB, especially Dr. Brandis, Oakview Place staff on 2E, the Palliative Care Program and the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit. At Moms request, her and Dads cremated remains will be buried together at Brandon Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church, 327 Fourth St. in Brandon on Monday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to a charity of your choice.
