Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL (MIKE) FEDIRCHUK Peacefully, on Friday, August 15, 2003, Mike, aged 85 years, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1993; parents, Jacob and Wasylyna; his sisters, Anna Halasis, Mary Zaborowsky and Elsie Rapenchuk; brothers, Jim, Bill, John, Dan and Peter. Michael is survived by his sisters, Nellie Annette Warun (Matt), Molly Evanuik, Kay Ozero (Walter), Phyllis Tomchuk (Steve) and Ann Joan Kedlarchuk; and many nieces and nephews. Michael was one of a family of 14, eight sisters and five brothers. He was born in Caliento, MB in November 21, 1917. As a young boy he loved sports, but he had to leave home during the 1930s (Depression) to find work so that he could buy clothes and feed himself to survive as did many others. He worked for farmers, lumber and pulpwood camps and mines. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army at Fort Osborne Barracks, the Canadian Royal Artillery, trained in Canada and England and served in Africa, Germany and Italy, where he was wounded, was hospitalized in England and at Deer Lodge Hospital in 1944, was discharged in 1944. Mike went to work with his brother-in-law as an apprentice painter, and the started his own business as Du-Rite Decorating, where he was very successful. In 1984 he sold his business. Michael married his wife Helen Scibak, June 20, 1946; they lived in Winnipeg; there were no children. They also lived in Gimli, MB, moving back to Winnipeg in 1993. In November 1992, Helen and Mike got the worst news and results from her doctor and Michael took the news badly, but never admitted this to anyone but his dearest friend. That was when he had his first stroke. Michael loved to fish and hunt, he taught his friends, his nieces and nephews to love nature and to use it well. He lived with his sister Ann Joan and her husband Steve from January 1994 to November 1998; he was hospitalized at Seven Oaks til March 31, 1999. He then went to Deer Lodge Centre first T2 South and then T5, and the family wishes to thank the staff at Deer Lodge for their kindness and care. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m., also at the Chapel, with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
