THE REV. DAVID JOSEPH CROSBIE O.F.M. 1934 - 2003 Fr. David Joseph Crosbie O.F.M. of Calgary passed away at the Agape Hospice on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the age of 69 years. Fr. David was born in St. Boniface, MB on February 23, 1934 to Jack and Kathleen Crosbie, both of whom predeceased him. David grew up and received his early education in Winnipeg and Edmonton. He entered the Franciscan Novitiate in Sherbrooke, QC and made his first profession on June 12, 1956. He made his solemn profession on August 30, 1959. He was ordained a Priest in St. Boniface Basilica on June 11, 1960. He attended the University of Ottawa School of Psychology and Education and at the School of Pastoral Theology; Institute of Spirituality, Chicago, IL; Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University, New York. He was a high school teacher, parish pastor on two occasions; director of Novitiate formation and past Novitiate formation; confessor and counsellor, retreat work, local and regional spiritual assistant to the Secular Franciscan Order. Other services within the order; two terms on provincial council, director of formation for 11 years, local guardian in various friaries for 30 years. He is survived by his two brothers, John (Dody) and Don (Cathy) and nieces and nephews. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscans of Western Canada. Relatives and friends are invited to prayers at St. Marys Catholic Church, 404-4th Ave. N., Cochrane, AB on Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be concelebrated at St. Marys Catholic Church, 404-4th Ave. N., Cochrane on Wednesday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Donald MacDonald, O.F.M. Principle Presider. Graveside service to follow at Mt. St. Francis Cemetery, Cochrane.
