Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY ABRAM LETKEMAN 1919 - 2003 Henry went peace-fully onto a better life on August 18, 2003 with family members at his side. Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife Marie; his children, Robert (Andrea), Edward (Diane), Richard (Lana) and Donald (Marlene) his sister Helen Lobb (Jack) his grandchildren, Katura, Brianne, Shelby, Taylyn; many nieces and nephews, family and friends. His sisters, Anne, Mary and Tina predeceased him. Henry loved life and his family, especially the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Marie. Prior to his stroke in 1993 he dedicated his life to helping others, as that is what made him happy. It was more important to him what he did along lifes highway than how he got there. Henry was born in Russia and came to Canada with his parents in 1924. He grew up in Morris, MB. He served his country in the Second World War by protecting supply routes and serving overseas. Henry was dedicated to his career in construction and he built several buildings and bridges in Manitoba. He loved to bike with his children to Assiniboine Park in the summer and he built bobsleds where his children would jump on his back for a ride down the hill in winter. He enjoyed all children, especially his grandchildren. During his semi-retirement, he loved to garden and work in others yards, as he loved to help them. Henry was a Deacon in their church, Bethel Baptist and a leader of services at Lions Manor. He was known as Uncle Henry and Pa Pa by the staff on T 5 at The Deer Lodge Centre. Henry and his family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of T 5 and those at the Centre that made his home and life a little easier. Thanks to Pastor Arden for his support throughout Dads illness. He will be remembered by his smile and twinkle in his eye. A celebration of Henrys Life will be held on Thursday, August 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, August 20, at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
