KARL BEREZA We regret to announce the sudden passing of Karl Bereza on Monday, August 18, 2003 at the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet, MB. Karl passed away at the age of 78 years . Predeceased by his beloved wife Ruth; parents John and Mary; brother Frank and two sisters, Lucy and Lillian; daughter-in-law Madeleine (Maggie). Left to cherish his memory are his son Robert (Sonya Lee) Bereza of Portage la Prairie; grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Lisa), Daniel Ernest of Winnipeg, and Randy of Portage la Prairie; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Owen of Winnipeg; brothers, Stanley (Betty) of Winnipeg, Victor (Irene) of Edmonton; sisters, Sophie (Dennis) Swedberg of Winnipeg; Evelyn Watson also of Winnipeg; many nieces and nephews and special friend Marjorie Howard of Rossburn, MB. Dad was born, raised and educated in the District of Mears, which is North of Rossburn. He worked on the family farm, lumber mills in Riding Mountain National Park, fire towers, Sudbury, ON, nickel mine and many other jobs. As a young person he joined the Army and served overseas during the Second World War. In 1946 he married Mom (Ruth) and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until her death. His career was mainly in the automotive trade and worked he way to Shop Foreman for many year. He liked to fix things that other people could not fix. Most recently he took an interest in the computer and wished to learn to type. He enjoyed Cribbage and always looked for worthy opponents and ready to challenge anyone, anytime. He truly enjoyed the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed flying with Danny and was such a daredevil that he took a ride in an acrobatic airplane at Steinbach just recently. Family was first and foremost for Dad and he was responsible for tracking down cousins whom we had lost track of. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, Canadian and international travel. His dream was to explore Alaska, which he did two years ago. He explored every part that he could with his camper and flew into areas that were not accessible any other way. From the North country to Florida and then the Ukraine where he had some research to do in regards to his grandparents. The tour company used Dad as an interpreter and he always spoke of the many friends that he had made and was always in contact with. He will surely be missed by all.
