Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE LEWCO (nee SLOBODZIAN) On August 19, 2003, Mom passed away peacefully at the Carman Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. Mom was born on March 14, 1911 at Chatfield, MB, the eldest daughter of Bartko Slobodzian and Anna Wowchuk. Mom married Roy (Roman) Lewco in January 1927. She is survived by her daughter Pauline Czuczwara (Eddie) sons, Bill, Stephen (Mary), Paul (Josephine), George (Shirley), John (Lyndis) 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Christie Dudych; and brother Joe Hryhocko (Sally) and her sisters-in-law, Susan, Pat and Marguerite Slobodzian; and brother-in-law Harry Swatiuk. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1982; one grandson Gregory; and one great-grandson Jonathon; sister Kay Swatiuk; brothers, John, Pete, Mike and Steve Slobodzian. Mom devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, her princes and princesses, as she called them. Her pride and joys were her garden, knitting, crocheting, making quilts and her costume museum. She still made her own bread and pies. She belonged to the W.I. in Brunkild for over 50 years and the Sperling Snappy Stitchers. Her faith in God carried her through many challenges and sorrows. Prayers will be said on Thursday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Carman. Funeral service will be held from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Carman on Friday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Edward Kosa O.M.I. officiating. Interment will take place in the Carman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Carman Memorial Hospital, Box 1025, Carman, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Ste. 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. The family wishes to thank the Carman doctors and nurses and all the home care workers at Parkview Manor. Doyles Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
