HUGH BEDDOME Hugh was born in 1912, the eldest son of Arthur and Margaret Beddome. He grew up on the family farm at Minnedosa. He began teaching school in 1931 close to Arborg where he met Lillian. They were married in 1933 and just last month they celebrated 70 years of marriage. He continued teaching school in the Interlake until 1946 when he became Secretary-Treasurer of the Town of Gimli where they remained until 1969 when they moved to Charleswood. He then spent two years as Secretary of the Rural Municipality of Rosser before retiring. He is survived by his wife Lillian of Heritage Lodge; daughter-in-law Jean Beddome of Fernie, BC; son Elmer and wife Jackie of Pontypool, ON; daughter Alice and husband Robert Radbourne of Fort Frances, ON; daughter-in-law Joan Beddome of Buffalo, NY; eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in 1999 by his son Robert. Hugh passed away August 20, 2003 at Grace Hospital. We cherish our memory of him. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. For those that wish, viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
