Dad was born on June 8, 1925, and raised on the farm near Ninette, MB. He is now reunited with his parents, Thomas and Cora Butcher (nee Orr) and two of his brothers, Fred and Alfred. Surviving are brother George (Bev) Butcher and sister Mary Gardiner. Also surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth and children, Cora, Fred, Darlene (Ron), Karen and Lisa. Dad also cherished his seven grandchildren, Brett, Jason, Rachel, Justice, Jonathon, Caroline and Brianna. Dad worked hard his whole life, retiring from MacDon Industries. He was a veteran of the Second World War and saw live action in Europe with the "Little Black Devils" a.k.a. the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and just after the war served as peacekeeping in Aurich, Germany with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. His army experiences left a deep and lasting impression on him and stayed with him always. We are grateful that he survived the war and returned home to meet our Mom and to be our Dad.
