WILLIAM HENRY BUTCHER The family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of our father and grandfather on August 18, 2003, at the age of 78. Dad was born on June 8, 1925, and raised on the farm near Ninette, MB. He is now reunited with his parents, Thomas and Cora Butcher (nee Orr) and two of his brothers, Fred and Alfred. Surviving are brother George (Bev) Butcher and sister Mary Gardiner. Also surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth and children, Cora, Fred, Darlene (Ron), Karen and Lisa. Dad also cherished his seven grandchildren, Brett, Jason, Rachel, Justice, Jonathon, Caroline and Brianna. Dad worked hard his whole life, retiring from MacDon Industries. He was a veteran of the Second World War and saw live action in Europe with the "Little Black Devils" a.k.a. the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and just after the war served as peacekeeping in Aurich, Germany with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. His army experiences left a deep and lasting impression on him and stayed with him always. We are grateful that he survived the war and returned home to meet our Mom and to be our Dad. Funeral service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Saturday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, with a reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
