Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA (ANNIE) MERNETT (nee GALANT) It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Annie at the Victoria General Hospital on Thursday, August 21, 2003 at the age of 95 years old. Annie was born on August 10, 1908 in St. Andrews, MB to Joseph and Sophie Galant. She married in 1931 and together they farmed in Kirkness until 1974, when they relocated to Selkirk. After her husbands death in 1988 Annie moved to the Knights Center in Selkirk and in July of 2002 she moved into Tuxedo Village in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander; her parents; an infant daughter Joyce; her sisters, Mary and Tillie; and her brothers, Joe, Michael, Peter and Paul. Annie will be forever missed by those she left behind, her son Lloyd and wife Wanda; her grandchildren, Vern (Colleen), Cheryl (Rob Grossi), Glen (Laurie) and Shawna (Grant Zeilstra) and her great-grandchildren, Kirk, Kevin, Vincent and Steven Mernett, Michael and Stephanie Grossi; and her sister Sophie Bochen; and her nieces and nephews. Annie enjoyed sharing good times and entertaining her family and friends. She touched the hearts of all who knew her with her kindness and generosity. The family would like to thank Jean Begg and Grace Armstrong for their kindness and friendship, as well as Homecare staff from the Selkirk District, and the staff of Tuxedo Villa Extendicare for the excellent care they gave to Annie over the past year, and the staff at Victoria General Hospital. Prayers will be said at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, MB, at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24. Funeral Rites will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 5635 Henderson Hwy., Gonor, MB at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, with Fr. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vern Mernett, Glen Mernett, Shawna Zeilstra (nee Mernett), Rob Grossi, Grant Zeilstra and Laurie Mernett. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be so He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come to me."
