JEAN ADAMS Jean Adams, of Pilot Mound, widow of Ivan Adams, peacefully with her family by her side, on Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at Rock Lake Hospital, Crystal City, at the age of 82. Jean was predeceased by her husband Ivan in 1991 and her brother Grant in 1985. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lyall (Christine) Adams, Connie (Don) Price, and Ardith (Roland) Hamilton. Her greatest joy and pride were her grandchildren, Rod (Alana) Adams, Nicole (Domenic) Sutton, Alanna Adams, Julie (Matt) Henderson, Ainsley Price, Jill Hamilton, Mark Hamilton, and Alison Hamilton. Jean is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Ross (Eunice) McCannell, Ken (Fay) McCannell, Lorne (Beth) McCannell; sister-in-law Florence McCannell; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Born and raised in the Copperfield District near Pilot Mound, Jean attended Normal School in Winnipeg and taught in Denore and Manitou. Married in 1945 to Ivan they took up residence at the farm and together raised their family. As a community-minded person Jean took an active role in U.C.W., The Canadian Order of Foresters, Manitoba Farm Women, Canadian Cancer Society, ITC, Horticulture Society, Festival Committees, and the Pilot Mound Curling Club. She took a keen interest in and enjoyed: travelling, collecting of antiques and books, fishing, helping and supporting neighbours and friends, and the pursuit of lifelong learning. However, family was always the centre of her life. Jean was a constant support to Ivan in his farming and community interests. She had endless enthusiasm for the activities of her children and grandchildren. Jean - sister, mother and grandmother, had inspiring energy and compassion, and will be missed so much by all that were lucky to know her and share in her life. A celebration of her life was held at Pilot Mound United Church on August 23. If friends so desire, donations in Jeans memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Prairie View Lodge in Pilot Mound, MB, or to a charity of their choice.
