EVELYN ALICE GISLASON (nee HOKANSON) "With tears we mourn her passing; yet with smiles we remember her always." Peacefully at the Arborg and District Health Centre, Evelyn Alice Gislason passed on with her loving husband and children by her side, after a strong and silent battle with cancer. Alice leaves her husband Wayne of 30 years who will deeply miss her in his life. Cherishing Moms memory are her children, Tamara Hurst with children, Britta, Amber and Devin; Tannis and Grant Sigvaldason with children, Craig, Shane, Neil and Nori; Tracey and David Finnson with children, Curtis, Carlyn, Calen and Dayne; and Wes and Nadine Gislason. Ammas angel will watch over us always. Mom will be deeply missed by her mother Evelyn Hokanson, and surviving brothers, Ken (Marilyn), Dale (Phyllis), Lynn (Linda), Charles (Valerie), and sisters, Inez Harrison (Lee), Lillian Firman, Josephine Anderson (Beggie). Mom leaves mother-in-law Gudrun Gislason, brothers-in-law, David Gislason (Gladys), Lorne Gislason (Shirley), and sister-in-law Josephine Kristjanson (Ingvar). She will also be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mom was predeceased by father Carl Hokanson, and her brothers, Rody and Clifford; and special friend and brother-in-law Art Firman. Mom touched many peoples lives with her caring and free spirited ways. She was artistic, athletic and enjoyed being on the go visiting family and friends. She spent much time in the garden, planting flowers, and caring for her birds. In the last ten years, Mom and Dad developed a special interest together, snowmobiling and jetskiing. A special note: Mom and Dad made many special friends over the years. Anytime you see the northern lights dancing, remember our Alice. A memorial service to celebrate Moms life will be held on Wednesday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church. Fellowship to follow. Thank you to family and friends for your support, also to Dr. Olweny, Dr. Wong and nurse and friend Terese at the St. Boniface Hospital, and Dr. Gravenstien, Dr. Van Wyc and the many nurses who gave care and comfort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation or Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
