JOHN EDWARD OLSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, John, of Arborg, MB on August 21, 2003. John was born in Teulon, MB on July 17, 1940. He later moved to Winnipeg and there obtained his Master of Education at the University of Manitoba. John then moved to Arborg where he taught at the high school for over a decade. He then decided his talents could be better used as a resource teacher in Native communities, but continued to reside and raise his family in Arborg. John loved teaching and helping anyone. Those who knew him, knew him by his generosity and kindness. He could always be counted on for sound advice, a kind word, a loan or a place to stay. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Amber (Rick) and Colin; granddaughter Jordan; brothers and sisters, Oscar (Marie), Louis (Lillian), Florence (Gord) and Donelda (Gene) also many nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends. Prayers will be held Thursday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, Arborg. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church with viewing to be held at 1:30 p.m. A lunch will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Arborg Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
