MIKE LYMYCH Suddenly, in his sleep on Sunday, August 24, 2003, at his cottage, Mike, beloved husband of Maria, passed away at the age of 57. A loving father and husband, Mike will be deeply missed by his three children, Michele (Robert) Lachance, Shauna (Clayton) and Michael Jr. Also left to mourn his passing are his parents, Mike and Ann; brother Bill (Sandra) two nieces, Carolyne and Alexis; and Godmother Ann Zubaty (Nick). Born in Germany, Mike came to Canada as a very young child, eventually settling in Winnipeg with his family. Mike was educated in Winnipeg attending both the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. He received his B.Sc. from the University of Winnipeg in 1972 and his Certificate of Education from the University of Manitoba in 1976. At the time of his passing, Mike was employed at the Canadian Grain Commission where he had worked for the past 25 years. Mikes greatest loves were his children and the quiet, peaceful times spent at the cottage he not only designed, but built. He cherished the memories of long, lazy bike rides, open campfires and searching the skies for falling stars at night. The recent marriage of his eldest daughter to Robert made him especially proud and he spoke often of the wonderful time he had at the wedding reception, sharing special memories with his longtime friends. He was extremely proud of the fact that he had raised such independent and free spirited children - he dearly loved his "Papooshka" and his son Michael was such a source of comfort and strength to him. He called him his "little fixer". Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27 (tonight) at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 28, at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave., with Rev. J. Holowaty officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family would like to thank Ryan and Heather, Ron and Kathy at the lake and Barry and Marilyn in the city for their support at the time of Mikes passing. A very special thanks to Dr. Grogan, the ambulance attendants and the RCMP officer (Gimli) for all their kindness and consideration. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made to the Variety Childrens Heart Centre in Winnipeg. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
