ALISTER JOHN MacGREGOR It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alister MacGregor, beloved husband of Kathleen, devoted father of Elaine, John and Anne, on August 26, 2003. He was born in 1917 to Eva and John MacGregor in Folkestone, England. Where his father was serving with the Canadian Army. They returned to Canada in 1919. Alister joined the Imperial Bank of Edmonton at the age of 17 and in 1940 enlisted in the Canadian Army in Calgary and served overseas until 1945, when he and his bride returned to Canada. Alister was an active member of West Winnipeg Rotary Club for many years and was also instrumental in the formation of Winnserv Group Homes for the handicapped, being one of its first Presidents. He supported and maintained this interest for the rest of his life. Due to ill health he retired as manager of the Bank of Commerce, Fort Garry Branch in 1972 after almost 40 years service. He will be much missed by his immediate family, sisters-in-law, Nita (Wales), Shirley; cousins, Dorothy (Paul), Sandy (Ann) of Scotland; many nephews and nieces in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. In honouring Alisters wishes a private family service will be held. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so desire donations may be made to Winnserv Inc.
