HELEN ILONKA GULYAS (nee VARGA) Born March 16, 1916, Nova Gradiska, Hungary. It is with deep sadness and love the family announces the passing for Helen Gulyas on August 27, 2003. Leaving to cherish her memory are her children, her son John; and daughter-in-law Christina; granddaughters, Michelle and Laura Spencer (Howard) of Winnipeg; also her daughter Helen Balogh; son-in-law Joe; granddaughter Liz Koster (Larry) and grandson John, all of Dunville, ON, and granddaughter Victoria of Vancouver, BC. Helen came to Canada in 1958 with her two small children from Hungary. She started working with Rice Sportswear until her retirement in 1981. She enjoyed many trips to Hungary to visit family where her sister and sister-in-law still reside. Helens joy in life were her children and grandchildren. She loved working on her needlepoint, gardening and especially her African violets. Helen was a great cook and loved to make Christmas time special for her family. She will be sadly missed by all who came into contact with her as she was a very loving and caring person. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the caregivers at Vista Park Lodge for their compassion and understanding while Helen was in their care. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, September 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagidimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint).
