JEAN TYMCHUK (ZABINSKY) With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mom, and grandma on August 29, 2003 after a lengthy illness at St. Boniface General Hospital at age 72. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years Ed, son Timothy (Sharon), daughters, Patsy and Lisa (Dan) and grandson Landon. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Catherine Zabinsky; brothers, Andrew and Joe and her sister Stella. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Margie, Helen and Irene of Winnipeg and Joanna of British Columbia as well as her niece and nephews in British Columbia. Jean was raised and lived all of her years in Elmwood. She was a devoted stay at home Mom until the early 1980s when she returned to workforce where she made many lasting friendships. Most recently, up to her illness, she was employed at Misericordia Health Centre where she always looked forward to going to take a break from her many chores at home to "talk with the girls". Jean took pride in everything she did, from her garden and flowers every year to preparing countless dinners for her family. Christmas time was always special at Mas house. You could always count on having as many people over as would fit in our small home to enjoy an evening of laughter. Spending time with her family and friends meant so much to her. Jean also always looked forward to her trips to Fargo with her daughters and was looking so forward to getting well and taking another trip this fall. Jean was blessed with many kind and considerate friends and neighbours. Your visits meant the world to her while she was in the hospital! Thank you! The family would also like to thank the staff on 4E at St. Boniface hospital for their compassionate care over the last couple of months. We never could have had a better Mother! You were always there when we needed you, no task to great or small, for us you did them all! We love you very much. God gave us a mother, and he tried to be fair, And when He gave us ours, we got more than our share. Although He took you back from us today, We are so grateful for the years He let you stay. Your presence well miss, your memory we treasure; Loving you always, forgetting you never. Moms funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am writing this many years after Jean passed but I remember her as if it was yesterday. I worked with Jean at the Misericordia. She was one of the kindest sweetest persons I have ever met. Always ready with an ear to listen, a hand to help and a ready smile and sharp wit to make you laugh. I left Winnipeg in 2000 and Jean was not well at that time. Due to hard circumstances in my own life I didn't have much contact with anyone in Manitoba other than family. When I finally returned and heard about Jean's passing I was so heart-broken. I had thought of her often in the years I was away and had always hoped she would still be here to share my adventures with. Rest in Peace sweet Jean. I will never forget you. God Bless your family, I know they will be missing you terribly. Love J. - Posted by: Jacqueline Elston (Former co-worker and friend.) on: Oct 08, 2012
