PIPE MAJOR JOEL PATRICK GAUDRY
Date of Passing: Aug 26, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPIPE MAJOR JOEL PATRICK GAUDRY Tragically on August 26, 2003 on his way home, Pipe Major Joel Patrick Gaudry was taken from us in a car accident in Ontario. Joel leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Lou and Ellen Gaudry, his sister Lesley and his Memere - Mrs. Gertrude Gaudry. He will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous friends and by his "special" aunts, Lynne and Claudette Pelletier. Joel graduated from St. Norbert Collegiate in 1996 and was awarded the Governor Generals Medal. Joels love of music commenced at a young age. He played many instruments with the highland bagpipes being his passion. He started to learn the bagpipes at the age of ten with the Lord Selkirk Boy Scouts Pipe Band. For the past six years Joel had been a member of the Canadian Forces Reserves as a piper with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. Throughout his life Joel also spent numerous evenings and summers parading as a cadet with the 177 RCACS, then teaching music to air and army cadets. His dream came true this summer when he was appointed Pipe Major of the Band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa. Throughout the past three years, Joel also performed at various venues around Manitoba with his Celtic duo, Walk the Plank. Although his time with us was too short, he lived each day to the fullest and he will be dearly missed. Joel won the hearts of everyone around him with his smile and compassion for others. He was a very creative and dedicated individual. Our son, brother, and friend, may you be in peace with an angel by your side. A celebration of Joels life will be held on September 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Minto Armouries, 969 St. Matthews Ave. Pallbearers will be Sheldon Webb, Graham Gordon, Todd Burnell, Darcy Leonoff, Scott Webster and Brad Clyde. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lord Selkirk Boy Scout Pipe Band, in care of #46 Burgess Ave., Winnipeg MB, R3T 3S7. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

I remember you on your Basic at CG. You were the best piper I had ever heard. I can still picture you at the Carleton barracks playing. You will be remembered! - Posted by: David (Co-worker) on: Nov 04, 2020

It's been over 11 years now Joel, and it really feels like it. I barely knew you in the summer of 2003, but we sat at the same tables. You piped for my sentry duty at Rideau Hall all the time. I remember all the time, and always will. I hope your family is happy and getting along. - Posted by: Guards (co-worker) on: Nov 13, 2014
