SUSANNA JOHNSON (nee REMPEL) Susanna Johnson, a resident of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 30, 2003 in the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 83 years. Born in Neuenburg, MB, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Susanna (Friesen) Rempel. Susan is survived by her children, Philipp (Sheila) Klassen of Lake Echo, NS, Susan Eakins of Winnipeg, Peter (Irene) Klassen of Regina, Marian (Henry) Martens of Winnipeg, Jack (Wendy) Klassen of Red Deer, Abe Klassen of Carberry and John (Margie) Klassen of Vita. Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers, Jake (Esther) Rempel of Steinbach, John (Anne) Rempel and Henry (Helen) Rempel of Winkler. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren as well as her extended family at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Susan was predeceased by her first husband Philip Klassen; her second husband William Johnson; sisters, Annie Elias, Helen Hildebrandt, Susie Rempel, Susanna Rempel; and her brothers, Peter, Jacob and Abe Rempel. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their excellent loving care and the many kindnesses shown to Susan during her 17 years as a resident. We would also like to thank Dr. Brown and the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Department for their care of Susan and their comfort to the family. Visitation will be held on September 2 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 3 at 1:30 p.m. in Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Ave. followed by interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one half hour prior to the service. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the church following the interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 of to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. N., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6.
