Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE BALABAN (nee EWASKO) Peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2003 at the Lions Manor, Portage la Prairie, MB, Anne Balaban, beloved widow of the late Michael Balaban, late of Portage la Prairie and formerly of Transcona, passed away at the age of 90 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie on Wednesday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Ernie Hafichuk and Deacon Michael Strelic officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Winnipeg. Anne was born in Winnipeg, daughter of Katherine and Michael Ewasko. She and Michael were married in 1941, living most of their lives in Transcona. They had one daughter, Iris. Anne belonged to the St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was active in the choir and the U.C.W.L. She was a talented seamstress and artist. Anne played a very important role in the lives of her family. In 2001 she moved to the Lions Prairie Manor where she resided until her passing. Predeceased by her husband Michael (1977), two brothers, Will and Paul; one sister Tina. She is survived by her loving daughter Iris, and her husband Stan Stoughton of Oakville, MB, and several nieces and nephews. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor, in care of the non-denominational chapel, 24-9th St. S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4 or to the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption, Box 1276, 620-1st St. N.W., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1Z7.
