MARY BURLING (nee WEISS) After a lengthy illness, Mary Elizabeth Burling passed away on August 30, 2003, with family by her side. Mary is survived by daughter Judi; son Jim (Bernice) grandchildren, Michelle (Mike), Natasha, and Colin; three great-grandchildren, and by her sister Emma and brother Conrad (Florence) and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Winnipeg, moving to St. Vital to marry and raise a family. Her resourcefulness, perseverance, and devotion were skills that served her well in raising her family under extreme hardships. Moms kitchen and flower gardens was a great source of pride to her. Next to time spent with family and friends, Mom most loved camping and fishing. Mom cherished her memories of the many happy summers she and Dad spent at Royal Lake and the lasting friendships that were made there. Mom led a full and active life up to her illness, and continued that way, not letting it get her down. Her courage in the face of adversity, inspiration and resourcefulness, and most of all love of life are characteristics that defined her life. She will be deeply missed by us. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. Interment to follow at the St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit or to the charity of ones choice.
