ETHEL GERTRUDE JOYAL (nee OLSON) December 5, 1925 - August 29, 2003 77 years of age It is with much sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother and nana after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Julien Joyal in 1995, they were soulmates. She leaves to mourn her children, Margaret Joyal-Sorin (Paul Sorin), Paul Julien Joyal; granddaughter Sabrina Julienne Sorin. She is survived by brothers, Orville Olson and Gordon Olson; sisters, Dorothy Williamson and Lorna Lee. She was predeceased by her brothers, Alvin Olson and Norman Olson; sisters, Ailie McArdle, Margaret Ticknor, Eleanor Graham and Jean Campbell. She was also very close to her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on the Joyal side of the family. More than anything Mom loved to entertain family and friends in her home, welcoming everyone. She enjoyed cooking and baking and pickling. No one ever left her home hungry or empty handed. She worked many years side by side with her husband in the office as his dental nurse, caring deeply for patients. She was very active with her bridge clubs and enjoyed spending time with her friends, living life to the fullest. She touched everyone that knew her. She will be fondly and lovingly missed by her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She cherished the time spent with them. Heartfelt appreciation to the "Angel" nurses, doctors and support staff on 3rd Floor East of Riverview Health Centre. Their compassion and care, hugs and kisses was deeply felt and sincerely appreciated. The celebration service of her life will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. We love and miss you deeply.
