ALBERT JOSEPH MONNEY June 10, 1926 - September 1, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Monney, Dad to Nannette; Father-in-law to Michael; Grand-pere to Colin, Cameron and Chad; Brother to Alice (and Gerry Boutin), Camille and Marthe (Brunel), Uncle to Denis, Odette, Geraldine and Brian, and good neighbour and cottage buddy to all his friends at the lake. He was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Pauline and sister, Angele. He is now side-by-side with his wife Therese who has been waiting for him since the winter of 2002. Albert was raised in St. Claude, MB. Once settled in Winnipeg, he worked at many places including Arctic Ice and of course Modern Dairies where he met Terry, whom he soon married. He spent his last 25 working years at Eatons and was awarded a diamond ring for his long-term service. He wore it proudly. For all those who knew him well, also knew of his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. What a dream come true when at last he and Terry were able to retire at their cottage in 1983. They spent almost 20 years together enjoying its peacefulness. They kept themselves busy trapping, hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting wood for the winter, entertaining their grandchildren, socializing with the neighbours and so much more. Albert found it hard when he had to face life without Terry. He somehow continued on with incredible determination, knowing that he could never leave the place where both their souls were embedded. Even though his health weakened, he managed to fulfil the dreams they had talked about, honouring her memory and keeping the promises they had made to each other. He fought a good fight and through it was able to show how much he loved his family. Merci papa! Many heartfelt thanks to all his caregivers, too many to mention, but much appreciated from Pinawa Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital, and all those who helped make his last journey a peaceful one at the Health Sciences Centre. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Road with Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematorium Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, 222-3241
