JOHN PESTRICK 1922 - 2003 It is with deep sadness the passing of John Pestrick is announced after a courageous battle with cancer on September 1, 2003 at the St. Boniface Hospital. John was born on July 29, 1922 at Fraserwood, MB. At a young age he worked at several farms in Manitoba. He later obtained employment in Winnipeg with Westons Bakery for six years. It was in Winnipeg where he met his future wife, Jean. They were married in 1944. From 1948 to 1959 John and Jean with her parents operated a restaurant at Oak River, MB. They then moved to Winnipeg where John was employed as a bus driver with Winnipeg Transit. He retired in 1984. Besides his loving wife Jean, he will be deeply missed by his sister Chris (Art) Singbeil; brothers, Stanley and Jim (Margaret) Pestrak; sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Marlene Pestrak, Elizabeth Rorabeck, Marion Bramwell, Dorothea Large, Margaret Smith; brothers-in-law, Patrick and John Douglas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by sisters, Mary and husband Jim Selluski, Sophia Pestrak, Olga and husband Mike Scoby, Katie and husband Henry Singbeil, Pauline and husband Erik Carlson; brothers, Fred and Michael Pestrak, Peter Pestrick; sisters-in-law Ruby Pestrak and Elizabeth (Betty) Pestrick; and brothers-in-law, Robert Douglas and Edward Rorabeck. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 84, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Khartum Temple Drum and Bugle. The funeral service and interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4. Pallbearers will be six nephews. By request, no flowers please. If desired, friends may donate to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the Shriners Khartum Temple, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9. "I know how much you love me, As much as I love you. And each time you think of me I know youll miss me too. So when tomorrow starts without me, Dont think were far apart For every time you think of me, Im right here in your heart."
