Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUDOLPH LAMBERT SLABY Peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at the Portage District General Hospital, Rudolph Slaby, passed away at the age of 67 years. Predeceased by his father Paul Slaby in April of 1979 and his mother Katherine in January of 2001; he is survived by his brothers, Harold (Helen) of Hillside Beach, MB and Edward (Eugenia) of Brampton, ON and their families. Left to cherish his memory are Elizabeth Krumes of Calgary; long time friend Lorna Penner of Victoria, BC; close friends, Janice and all the coffee gang at Chicken Chef and his many friends in the Portage area. Harold and Ed acknowledged the special friendship Rudy had with Marlous McGhie and her daughters, Miranda and Marina. Rudy was born February 11, 1936 in Winnipeg, the first of three sons. He was educated in Winnipeg at David Livingston Elementary School, Aberdeen J.H. and Tech-Voc H.S. His work career spanned being a telegram delivery boy while at the age of 11, taxi driver, dispatcher, 18 wheeler driver/dispatcher until his retirement in 1995. Since his retirement he has enjoyed his friends in Portage, his visits with Marlous and daughters, his travels east to visit Ed and family and friends and his travels west to visit friends in Alberta and British Columbia. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie with Rev. Barry McGhie officiating. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Rudys memory to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
