MARY EVA VESEY (nee HOPKINS) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Mary Eva Vesey at the Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home, 577 St. Annes Rd., Winnipeg on Saturday, August 30, 2003. Eva is survived by her daughter Beryl (Lindsay) Lanphear, granddaughters, Elizabeth and Leticia; sisters, Jean Hunter and Emily Wilson; and brothers, Will (Isla) and Jim (Lorraine) Hopkins, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Syd and her sister Margaret Stevenson and her parents, Thomas and Mary Esther Hopkins. Eva was born on February 5, 1907 on the family farm near Ste. Elizabeth, MB. She attended Normal School in Manitou and then taught in many one room school houses in Manitoba. In 1942 she married Syd Vesey of Cartwright and they farmed near Argyle until moving to Stonewall in 1970. She had resumed teaching for a number of years at the Brant-Argyle school until she retired in 1972. Eva enjoyed many handicrafts. Her specialty was the art of tatting, over the years she produced hundreds of beautiful doilies, many of which she gave to family, friends and formal pupils. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Meadowood Manor for all their kindness and care during these last weeks. A memorial service will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall on Thursday, September 4 at 2:30 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada, Manitoba Chapter, 4-353 Provencher Blvd., Winnipeg, R2H 0G8. Two tired eyes are resting Two willing hands are still The one who has always worked so hard Is resting in Gods will. God saw you getting tired He knew you needed rest His garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
