Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA MAY BENNETT (nee HARDMAN) May 17, 1916 - August 30, 2003 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our dear Mother and Grandma, Edna May Bennett. Mom passed away at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home with her family at her side. Mom was born in Brooklands, MB and spent all of her 87 years in Winnipeg. She is survived by her only daughter Linda and son-in-law Frank Peters, grandchildren, Pat (Wally), Tracy (Lee) and Brad (Lindsay). Sister Rena (Reg Hughes), nephews, Art (Pat), Bruce (Lorraine), Grant (Diana), Jack (Stef) and special niece Joanne (Tony), along with many great-nieces and nephews. Edna is also survived by cousins, Stan and Hilda in England, and dear friends Ruby and John Dyck. Edna was predeceased by her loving husband Bill in September 1983, her parents, John and Harriett Hardman; sister Gladys; and brother Art. Mom will be fondly remembered for her kind and gentle nature. She was warm and loving, and a friend to all. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Mom was very proud when she received her lifelong certificate for volunteering at the Princess Elizabeth Guild. She was also a long term member of the Riverview Ladies Bowling League at the Park Alleys. Mom, affectionately known as "Our Edna" will be remembered for her knitting, baking, cooking, and Sunday dinners, especially her famous chocolate chip cookies. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, for the excellent care and love given to Mom over the past four years. Your kindness will never by forgotten. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, Rev. Martha McDowell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Edna, to the St. Norbert Personal Care Home Activity Department, 50 St. Pierre St., Winnipeg, MB or to a charity of your choice.
