Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYNNE FOWLE (nee WILCOX) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynne Fowle on Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at the St. Boniface General Hospital after a brief illness. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Robert Jr.; daughter-in-law Estelle and much adored granddaughter Erin. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Terri-Ann McLean of Upland California, Doug Gateson (Irene) of Penticton, BC, Roger Gateson (Jane) of Winnipeg, Barb Charleton (Murray) of Victoria, BC, Darryl Beaton of Saskatoon, SK. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert Fowle Sr. in April, 2002, as well as her sisters, Rita and Dorothy and her brother Robert. Mom was born in Ottawa to Elizabeth and Robert Wilcox but spent the majority of her childhood years living in Halifax, NS. Mom would entertain us frequently with tales of boarding school at the Mount St. Vincent College and growing up by the ocean with summers at Peggys Cove. Mom was an independent, private and determined woman. Not satisfied with her level of education, Mom took it upon herself to do something about it. She enrolled at the University of Manitoba in her fifties and graduated with her B.A. Still not satisfied, she continued with pre-masters courses. Mom later took employment at Eatons in the jewelry department where she remained for 15 years. Moms pride and joy was her granddaughter Erin. Many sleepovers and Beanie Baby parties were had by the two best friends. Mom loved to shop (guess who for) and to read. Many a book was devoured with her accompanying box of Turtles hidden under the bed. Mom had a way with animals. She loved her two chihuahuas until their passing. They seemed to sense her gentleness as witnessed recently by Chippy the neighbourhood chipmunk who had taken to feed on her doorstep and out of her gentle hand. The family wish to thank the City of Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services, the staff of St. Boniface General Hospital Emergency, MICU/CCU and 5B for their care and kindness during Moms short illness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg.
