JAMES ALAN LOVE September 17, 1955 - September 2, 2003 James (Jimmy) Love was promoted to glory suddenly on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the Health Sciences Centre. Jimmy leaves to mourn his passing his wife and companion of 20 years, Erma Chapman and his beloved Charlotte "Punk" Love Chapman. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Daniel Love and Robert Tesarski; sister Cynthia Roulette (Brent Spotted Eagle) mother-in-law Audrey Chapman; sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Kevin) Chapman and Cindy (John) Snider; special friend Tony Tavares; and birth father Glen Swannee. Jimmy will be especially missed by his nieces and nephews, Barbara (Vince) Guimond, Joel Epp, Charlie Epp and Joshua Houle, Christina, Nicholas and Phillip Chapman, Daniel and Carolyn Snider; and godchild Sarah Bouvette Lundeby. Jim was predeceased by his beloved mother Barbara Love, his father Sam Love, his father-in-law Newton Chapman, and his birth mother Lorraine Swannee. Jimmy lived his entire life with severe hemophilia and later, with its many complications including arthritis and the impact of HIV/HCV-tainted blood. He dedicated his life to improving care and treatment for those with bleeding disorders worldwide, including successfully fighting for compensation for those infected with HIV and HCV through tainted blood. He will be long remembered for his cheerful nature and dedicated visits to those in hospital. At the time of his passing, Jim was President of Hemophilia Manitoba, where he had been a board member for 21 years. His voluntarism was recognized by Hemophilia Manitoba on several occasions. As well, he was the recipient of the Stuart Johnson Award for living life with ability. Jim loved time with his family and friends, weekends with his hemophilia brothers at Andy Lake, and travelling, including Hong Kong, Japan and Spain. A lifelong Christian, he gave thanks for the many years that he had earthly life; his family gives praise for the blessing of Jims swift passing, free of suffering. The family wishes to thank the Winnipeg Paramedic Service, the Bleeding Disorders Clinic, and the Health Sciences Centre Emergency Room and Medical Intensive Care Unit staff for their expertise and efforts for Jim, as well as their compassion for the family. Deep appreciation to Karen and Philipa for helping us to get through these difficult days. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Jim and I were childhood friends. I had lots of interesting experiences with Jim and the rest of our friends when he grew up on Centennial. He found me later in life and shared his sad news. It was so great to reconnect, but I was living in Denver at the time of his passing. Jim was a good friend and very special to me. One memory I can share is we went to Manpop together. I think we were like 15 years old. So many fun times. Rest in peace my friend! - Posted by: Les Kaplan (Friend ) on: Feb 06, 2024
