KENNETH JOHN MacKENZIE Peacefully, on September 3, 2003, Ken MacKenzie, aged 83, passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. Ken is survived by his wife of 36 years Louise; son Ken Jr.; granddaughter Lisa (Shane Cluff) stepson Gary Little (Susan) and their children, Kristy and Casey; step daughter-in-law Diane and her children, Leif and Bridget. He is survived by brothers, Jim, Ian; sister Betty; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ken was predeceased by his stepson Duve and sisters, Cathy, Jean, Christina and Mary. Ken was born in Winnipeg, May 29, 1920. As a young man, he played junior hockey. His hockey career was interrupted by service as an RCAF pilot in the Second World War. Ken returned to play professional hockey in the USA and concluded by playing senior hockey and coaching for several more years. Ken became an entrepreneur when he founded Big Whiteshell Lodge in the late 1940s and built Crow Duck Lake Camp in the 1960s. He also co-founded a boat company, Alumaway/Alumarine. His life-long interest in flying led to the acquisition of his beloved SEABEE, which he bought in 1955 and sold in 2002. Ken also taught Ken Jr., Jim Sr., Glen, Gary, and Grant how to fly. In his retirement, he kept himself busy helping family and friends; he lived for garage sales and repairing these "treasures" in his shop. Ken was a jack-of-all-trades and throughout his lifetime shared his knowledge with many. Kens kindness and generosity will be sadly missed. Cremation has already taken place and a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
