Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEX PRODUNIUK After a long and courageous battle, it is with great sorrow and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alex Produniuk, aged 75 years of Petersfield, MB, on September 2, 2003 at the Stonewall and District Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory, his best friend, loving and devoted wife, Connie; his children, Sharon, Doug, Gary (Lynne) and grandchildren, Allan, Christopher, Douglas, David, Holly and Hannah. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Matychuk, Mary Produniuk and Sophie Field; numerous sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews residing in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and in San Antonio, Texas. Alex was born in St. Claude, MB July 10, 1928. He had been a hard worker all his life. On the road, his job with Pauls Hauling Ltd., took him many hours away from home. When he and his wife built their retirement home, it was a dream come true. A latent artistic talent showed up in the designs of everything from the rail fence, landscaping, the coloured garden walks, and the unusual deck structure and his pride and joy, the remodelling of a "Riverton Yawl" boat. An honest, loving man of integrity, he also had a profound respect for nature. Many a deer, stray cats, birds, etc. owe their survival because of Alex. He will be remembered and missed by his morning coffee buddies at the Petersfield Store. Among one of his notable traits was his direct sense of humour which will be missed. He loved to dance and always attended the A.N.A.F monthly gatherings in Selkirk. He was known throughout the area by his friends for wearing cowboy boots. A viewing and visitation will be held Friday, September 5 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. also in the chapel. At Alexs request interment will follow in the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in St. Claude, MB. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. G. Pinniger, Dr. D. Venter and for the compassion and care given by the nurses and staff at Stonewall and District Hospital. Also to the paramedics, first responders and the homecare attendants. An expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Alexs memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
