Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY EDWARD VANCE January 23, 1915 - August 31, 2003 On Sunday, August 31, 2003, Roy passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Bonnie (Edward), Roy (Bette), and Valdene (Jan) eight grandchildren, Melora, Liana, Myles, Layna (Reid Fowlie), Miranda and Lissa Allan, Andrea and Aaron de Vries; several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Archie Logan and sister-in-law Ann Vance. Roy was born in Georgetown, ON and then moved to Winnipeg with his parents, brothers Alec and Jack and sister Edith. As a young man he worked at Moyers Drugs to help support his family. During the Second World War, Roy, a CQMS, served overseas in England, France, Belgium and Holland for five and one half years. After returning to Winnipeg, he was employed by Drewerys (Carlings), now Molsons Brewery for over thirty years. He was a loving husband and father. Many weekends and holidays were spent at Belair building and enjoying the family cottage. Spending time with his family was an integral part of his life. Taking the neighbourhood children with us to the Santa Clause parade when we were young, as well as scrub baseball games behind the house, are just two examples. After his retirement, leisure time was spent gardening, golfing, curling and travelling. At Roys request, a private family graveside service will be held, conducted by the Rev. Canon, Douglas Gregory. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roys memory to the charity of your choice.
