Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS YORK January 19, 1908 - September 2, 2003 Peacefully, surrounded by family and as a new day dawned, Tommy was called home. He was predeceased by his first wife Madeline (Folster) his sons, Harvey and Cameron and his daughter Margaret Elizabeth. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Mary (McKay/Crate), three brothers and four sisters. Loving memories of their father will be cherished by Leonard (Heather), Stewart (Mona), Cecilia Stevenson (Lloyd), William/Billy (Yvonne) and his brother Billy York Sr. will miss him. Fond memories of their stepfather will be held close to the hearts of Rosabelle Osborne (Murray), Andrew Crate, Dorothy Wilson (Caleb), Christina Evans, Lawrence Crate (Jane) and Matthew Crate. His 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 21 stepgrandchildren and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren are thankful that they had their Mosoom for so long. He will also be remembered by many other relatives and friends. Tommy worked with Health (and Welfare) Canada from 1935 until his retirement in 1968 in Norway House, MB and briefly in Nelson House, MB. He was a 3rd Class Chief Engineer and received his Operating Engineers Certificate of Qualifications from the Operating Engineers and Firemen Act in 1957. His work included work assignments to inland communities and accompanying federal government personnel such as physicians and Treaty payment officials to many nursing stations and inland First Nation communities. His longevity can be greatly attributed to the five miles he walked daily to work for much of his life. A special thank you to the Norway House Cree Nation Home Care Program and the Norway House Hospital for their care and generous support. Funeral services will be held in Norway House at the Keenanow United Church on Thursday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m.
