MARGARET KATHLEEN (KAY) AKINS nee JENNINGS Died very peacefully in her sleep at Grace Hospital (Winnipeg) at 2:45 a.m., September 4, 2003, two days after her 100th birthday. Married in 1927 to Col. E.J.W. Akins, RCE, P. Engineer (Retd), who predeceased her in 1977. Together again at long last in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A woman of quiet faith and good heart, ever gracious and accommodating, who lived for her husband and her family. She set an example for her sons, which was often striven for but never attained. Predeceased by her son Melvin (1956) grandson Brian Patrick (1961) her parents Barnabas (1957) and Elinore (1966) her sister Frances Clearwater; her brother Ernie Boyle; and by many, many staunch true friends. Survived and mourned by her sons and daughters-in-law, George (Carol), Brian (Shirley), Bill (Doreen) her grandchildren, Kathleen (Martin), Bruce (Chris), Clive and Susan (Gary) and her great-grandchildren, Evin and Allison Akins, and Majka and Lev Akins Hahn. In earlier years, Kay Akins was active in the Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, Deer Lodge United Church, the Twelfth Fd. Co. RCE Womens Auxiliary, the Engineers Wives and the Valour Road Curling Club. By her express instruction a private cremation will be held at once with a memorial service to be held later at a place and date to be announced. Held dear in life and death.
