A passionate and loving mother of the four "Bs" and their families will be remembered for her independence, courage, and deep relationships/friendships to those within her closest circle. Eileens spirit will forever soar above the families whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kern, her father, George Gelhorn and her stepfather, Jack Lang. Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace according to Thy word, For mine eyes have seen Thy salvation: which Thou hast prepared before the face of all people, a Light to lighten the Gentiles and the Glory of Thy people Israel. Luke 2: 29-32 Memorial Service: 6:30 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2003. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Survivors: Her beloved Mother: Elsie Lang, Children: Brandt Smith and wife, Donnitta, Brenda VanDekerkhove and husband, Randy, Blair Smith, Belinda Phillips and husband, Joe. Grandchildren: Heather Simpson and husband Steven, Melissa Campbell and husband, Jonathan, Candy Smith, Amber Davidson, Adam Davidson, Ryan VanDekerkhove, Haley Phillips and Caylee Smith. Great-grandchildren: Hannah Simpson and Nathan Campbell. Sisters: Georgina Thompson and husband, Bruce, Carolyn Gelhorn, many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and her life-long friend, Ruth Komishon, husband Jim and family.
