Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANKLYN JOHN (FRANK) LINDSAY 1942 - 2003 On September 3, 2003, Franklyn John Lindsay (Frank) said goodbye to a lifetime of family and friends. A man loved by all who crossed his path, he was born in Winnipeg on August 14, 1942. In his youth, Frank became well known as a scratch golfer and gifted thoroughbred handicapper. In 1980, he moved to Calgary and established Carpets for Less in 1984, becoming a respected member of the business community. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Winnifred; and recently by his brother Russell of Vancouver. He leaves behind four siblings, Charles Lindsay (Carell-Ayne) of Victoria, Carol Lindsay of Winnipeg, Robert Lindsay (Irene) of Victoria, Don Lindsay (Karen) of Victoria, and sister-in-law Carole Lindsay of Vancouver. Frank was active in thoroughbred horse racing for the past 25 years as an owner and well-known handicapper. His greatest dream to visit Saratoga Racetrack, New York, was met surrounded by best friends in July 2003. Golf was a daily habit, teeing it up with his buddies in Arizona, Manitoba or Alberta. He was a member of the St. Boniface and Elmhurst Golf Clubs in Winnipeg, Priddis Greens and Carnmoney in Calgary and played the best golf courses worldwide with his favourite being Royal Dornach in Scotland, and a best round of 63 (Carnmoney - October 2002). He was never too busy to help a friend, sponsor a charity or fit in a golf game. On rainy days he would appreciate old "Dusters" western movies. Frank chose to leave normality behind and create his own path in life. He will be lovingly remembered as a man of true courage, integrity and honesty. Funeral services will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Tuesday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Arlene V. Simms, D.M. officiating. A reception to follow in the lower hall. Friends and family are also invited to a gathering at Schanks South, Wednesday, September 10 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. to reminisce and celebrate the life of a great man.
