Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MURRAY THOMSON Peacefully, on September 7, 2003, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Murray Thomson, passed away at the Bethania Personal Care Home. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on April 18, 1924, Helen came to Canada six months after her beloved late husband George. She travelled by herself with her two young sons, arriving in Winnipeg on December 25, 1951. She served in the "Land Army" during the Second World War and it was there that she met her husband George. They were married on October 11, 1945. Helen worked at a variety of jobs during her working career, most recently at The Bay. Helen spent many memorable weekends at the lake and shopping sprees with her best friend Phemie and husband Dave Roxburgh. Helen is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children, Ken (Terry), Derek (Shirley) and Valerie (Doug) grandchildren, Laurie Koop (Rob), Bobbi Skrynyk (Craig), Kellea, Brittany and Chelsea Thomson, Michael and Cortney Cook; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Emily and Lindsay Koop and Noah Skrynyk. She is also survived by her two favourite cousins, Helen (Cis) Whetstone of Edmonton and Gladys (Hugh) King of Calgary. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband George on April 3, 1969, and she is now reunited with him. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Pastor Gerhard Friesen officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot, Transcona Cemetery. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Bethania Personal Care Home for their care and compassion during Mums stay there. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so wish, donations in Helens memory may be made to the Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, or to a charity of choice.
