JOHN HUBERT SMITH January 20, 1922 - September 8, 2003 Peacefully on September 8, 2003, John passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 81. John was born in Belair, MB, the son of the late Charlie and Ethel Smith. He was predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Lillian. He was also predeceased by his siblings, being survived by his brother Gordon. He leaves to mourn his children, Pat Sanders, John (Rose) Sanders, Liz Chambers, Alex (Lynn) Sanders, Margaret Mortimer, Shirley Krause (Ken), Sheldon Sanders, Cecil Sanders and Walter Sanders. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John has lived in Belair, Valemount, BC and Selkirk, finally residing in Great Falls, MB where he enjoyed fishing, baking, cooking and playing cards with his family. He was a decorated soldier who was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In his younger years, he was an avid curler and enjoyed playing the harmonica. A viewing and prayer service will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m. also in the chapel.
