SUSANNA KLASSEN On September 9, 2003, Susanna Klassen of Winnipeg passed away at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. She was born February 11, 1913 in Neuhorst, Ukraine. She grew up in Burwalde where her father was the leading church minister. From Germany, Susanna with her husband Heinrich, immigrated to Paraguay in 1949 and then continued on to Canada in 1958. She was predeceased by her husband in 1972, by her son John in 1990 and by her daughter-in-law Hedwig in 1992. Surviving grandchildren, Edward (Lana), Henry (Anne-Marie), Christina (Paul) and great-grandchildren, Wolfgang, Anja, Dexter, Hedi, Melodi, Kristi and Johanna. She is survived by her daughter, Erna (Neil) Neumann and grandchildren, Louise (Colin), Karin (James), Laura (Sean) and great-grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, Christina, Meghan, Natalie, Braeden and Nicole. By her son, Henry (Mary) and grandchildren, Agnes (Ron), Cathy and Sandy and great-grandchildren, Carly, Sidney and Jacob. By her son, George and grandchildren, Erin, Nicholas and Richard. With her best friend and sister-in-law, Mary Penner, she enjoyed her social life including the bible study sessions at the Wellington Avenue Autumn House Senior Residence. Mom will be fondly remembered for her kind and gentle nature and her great sense of humour. Her family was everything to her and she was always offering a helping hand or words of wisdom to help us through life. We will miss her deeply. The family wishes to thank the Health Sciences Centre Staff in Wing GH4 for their care and kindness during her short stay. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, September 12 at 10:30 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg with Rev. Franz Wiebe officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
