Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON ALLAN MARTIN It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon on September 9, 2003 at Riverview Health Centre. Gordon is survived by Muriel, his wife of 50 years; son, Guy (Doreen) Martin; daughters, Doreen (Rob) Armstrong, Diane (Ed) Enns and Sandi Martin (Bob Sywy) brother, Cal Martin; and numerous members of his extended family. Eight grandchildren also survive Gordon: Ryan, Leah and Krista Armstrong; Kyler, Kelly and Mitchell Enns and Brayden and Scott Sywy. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Frank Martin, as well as two brothers, Allan and Leonard Martin. Gord was born on December 23, 1923 in Winnipeg. He served with the Navy during the Second World War and afterwards, apprenticed as a carpenter with the Winnipeg Electric. Carpentry remained a passion for Gord throughout his life. The Winnipeg Electric later became the Greater Winnipeg Transit where Gord worked many years as a carpenter. He later joined the Parks Division, retiring in 1983 from the position of Superintendent of Construction and Maintenance for the City of Winnipeg. Gordon married Muriel Leslie in 1953 and moved to East St. Paul where they lived and raised their four children in their home built by Gordon. Family and friends will miss seeing all the beautiful things built by Gord in his workshop. The items that Gord built were never built to last a lifetime; they were built to last until the end of time. Gords family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care he received at Riverview Health centre. According to Gords wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. Klassens Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Gords memory to the Firefighters Burn Fund, 303-83 Garry St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9.
