JOHN ALEXANDER MILLAR 1917-2003 On September 8, 2003, after a lengthy battle with cancer, John Alexander Millar, beloved husband of Lorna Millar, passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. Besides his wife Lorna, he is survived by his sister Edith (Charles) Sutherland of Winnipeg, nephew Gordon Sutherland of Cape Breton, great-niece Joanne (Cory) Gartner and family of Stoney Plains, AB as well as relatives in Scotland and Colorado. He was predeceased by his nephew John Sutherland. John had been a Sergeant with the Winnipeg Police Force prior to his retirement and then worked for CIBC for twelve years. John and Lorna had been married for 53 years. John served with the R.C.N.V.R., and was a member of the Rivercrest Curling Club and the West Kildonan Seniors Club. His main interest was gardening. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Johns memory may be made the CancerCare Manitoba, 109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or a charity of their choice.
