John was born on June 9, 1924 to William and Elsie in Carberry, MB. He received education at the Carberry Collegiate before enlisting in the Canadian army in 1941. He served with distinction in the 1st Light Anti-aircraft Regiment in Italy and Holland. He is also survived by sisters, Marie and Frances; mother-in-law Pearl Roney, and close family members, Brad and JoAnn Letkeman and daughter Sarah. He was predeceased by sister Mary and brothers, Ivan, Clifford, and David. John enjoyed life and people and was always giving of himself to friends and family. His warm smile and gentle humour will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinsons research may be made in his name. A service in celebration of Johns life will be held at Green Acres on September 30. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
