SANTOS A. ALVES On September 6, 2003 Santos A. Alves passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Magdaleno Alves and Benedicta Avelino Alves and sister Maria Hapalla. He is survived by his special friend of six years Lydia Schellmann; his children, Dennis, Marcial (Rowena) and Maylyn (Rogelio) his grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy and Rhea; as well as his sisters, Litha (Jargen), Nena (Wenceslao) and Susanna (Ambrosio) his brother Vicente (Maria) and numerous nieces and nephews. Sany was born in the Philippines and came to Canada with his then wife Nena in 1968, where he worked as a surveyor for many years. He then dedicated many years to building his business, as well as enjoying the company of his best buddy "Pogi". He was also an active member of the Timpuyog Ti Ilokano Association of Manitoba, Knights of Columbus, and Aklanon Association of Manitoba. The family wishes to thank the staff at the ICU, 3rd floor Units 4 and 5, and especially the Dialysis Unit at Seven Oaks Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 18, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 19, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
