VICTOR DeGAGNE Victor passed away peacefully at the Tache Centre early Friday morning. Victor was born July 22, 1911 in Labroquerie, MB, the son of Charles and Rosa of Bedford, MB. He moved to St. Boniface as a young man, where he met his wife Marie Rose and together raised their two children Bernice and Ronald. Vic began his career in the insurance business and lived his entire life in the St. Boniface and Norwood area. In 1946 he built the Norwood Hardware Store at 220 St. Marys Rd., which he and Marie owned and operated. In 1956 he went into automobile sales where he began a sales career selling Studebakers and Nash Ramblers. He worked at a number of Winnipeg dealerships over the years before retiring from Carter Motors in 1976. Vic and Marie enjoyed their retirement at their home at 22 Cedar Place until 1997 when Marie moved to Tache Centre and Victor to Catherine Place in Norwood before moving to Tache Centre in 2002 due to his poor health. Vic is survived by Marie his wife of 72 years; his daughter Bernice and husband Dennis Simoens; son Ron and wife Nancy of Parksville, BC; grandchildren, Linda Marleau, Alan Simoens, John Simoens, Janice Harcus all of Winnipeg, Grant DeGagne of Parksville and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Elise Gauthier of Youville Nursing Centre in St. Anne, MB and his brothers, Gerry of Calgary, Fernand DeGagne of Youville Nursing Centre. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marie Lauze, Jeanne Martel, Evelyne Cote, Dora Dupas, Elsima Deschenes and brothers, Jean and Joseph DeGagne. At Vics request cremation has taken place and memorial service celebrating Vics life will be held on Monday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Tache Centre for the tireless care and special attention they gave to our father in his final days.
