GUIDO "BUDDY" DELABBIO Peacefully on September 14, 2003, Guido "Buddy" Delabbio gently passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elsie in October 2000. He is survived by daughters, Pattie Moore (Stan Tataryn) and her children, Stephen Moore (Kerri), Michelle Saltel (Eric) and Sean Moore; and Brenda Rusen (David) and her daughters, Lisa Anttila (fiance Andrew Holtmann), Erika and Kaila Anttila. Buddy was born in Sault Ste Marie, ON, one of eight children of Italian immigrants. His love of sports and his competitive spirit started at an early age as a competitive swimmer. It was during his teenage years he began his singing career which brought him to Winnipeg. It was here, while performing at the Cave Supper Club, he met the love of his life Elsie. After a brief courtship, she agreed to marry him if he got a "real job". Buddy worked two jobs until he was able to purchase Pratts Ltd. with his brother-in-law Peter Mazepa where he remained for over 30 years. He was an active community leader, raising funds for many organizations including St. John Brebeuf Parish and St. Pauls High School. He was Grand Knight of the 155 Counsel of the Knights of Columbus, past board member of Misericordia Hospital, St. Marys Academy, Trans Air, and past chair of the Municipal Hospitals. During his career he received many accolades but none as special as the recent award he received during the 2002 graduation ceremonies at St. Pauls High School. Nothing gave Buddy more pleasure than speaking of the accomplishments of his grandchildren. He was so very proud of each of them and loved to spend time with them. They were all the light of his life. A special thank you to the caring compassionate staff on 2 South at Deer Lodge Centre. They made him feel special every day. Thank you also to Peter Rusiecki, a friend who went above and beyond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the St. Pauls High School Bursury Fund, 2200 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 0P8. Pallbearers are Stan Tataryn, Stephen and Sean Moore, Eric Saltel, David Rusen and Andrew Holtmann. Funeral service will be Friday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
