KATHRYN PATRICIA MARKOFF March 9, 1954 - September 14, 2003 On Friday, September 19, 2003 at 8:00 p.m., Kathy Markoffs life will be celebrated through laughter, story and song. Her family invites friends and colleagues to join the celebration at the Conservatory in Assiniboine Park. Kathys spirit will live on in those who loved her: her beloved husband of 18 years, Alvin Shillingford; son, Darcy; daughter, Desiree; parents, Rose and Alexander Markoff, London, ON; sister Rosemarie Pelz (Wayne), Edmonton, AB; brother Michael Markoff (Elaine), Richmond Hill, ON; sister Karen Fortin (Jerry), Gunn, AB and nieces and nephews. Kathy was a pioneer among women in the business world, reaching senior ranks in Canadian National Railways. During her 28 year career, she rose to become Director of CNs national Customer Support Centre as well as General Manager of Transcona Shops, CNs largest locomotive and railcar repair facility. Kathy was also the Chair of CNs Diversity Committee where she was a courageous defender of employee rights for equal opportunity. Kathy will be remembered as an outstanding leader. Recently she was given the CN Presidents Award of Excellence for People.
