She was predeceased by her sister Edith. Mary was born and raised in the Melville, SK area. She moved to the 1-6 District southwest of Morden to work as a housekeeper and that is where she met Albert. They were married on June 26, 1940 and farmed in communities around Morden and Manitou. Upon retirement, they moved to Morden. One of her fondest memories was the time spent volunteering at the Morden Community Thrift Shop. She was also involved in many activities with the ladies auxiliary of Christ Lutheran Church in Morden. In later years, even with her own health failing she still managed to make regular visits to the Tabor Home to see Albert. One of her talents was handiwork which included knitting, embroidering, crocheting and tatting. Many of the items she outputted have been received as gifts by our families and displayed in our homes. She also enjoyed mind challenging activities such as solving the various puzzles in the daily newspapers and working jigsaw puzzles. With a farm background, she naturally enjoyed cooking and gardening. She chose her active pallbearers from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will be Lisa Fehr, Nathan Blachford, Robin Diduch, Kelvin Batke, Timothy Rosen and Wade Rosen. Viewing will take place on Thursday, September 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden and at the chapel prior to the service. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel with Rev. Morris Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at the chapel cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Boundary Trails Health Centre for the excellent care that was given to Mom during her various stays at the facility and the courtesy extended to the family in her final days. Floral tributes are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Tabor Home Memorial Fund, 230 9th St. South, Morden, MB R6M 1Y3 or a charity of their choice.
