Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR HENRY PETERS Arthur Henry Peters peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer that began in September, 1993. Arthur was born August 7, 1939 - sixth of nine children. He was raised on a farm in the Winnipegosis, MB area. He married Gail Panke June 17, 1967 and they were blessed with three children, Terra-Lee Peters (Shane Phillips) of Brisbane, Australia; Tamira ( Mark Penner) and Todd Peters of Winnipeg. Arthurs hearts desire was granted to live long enough to see his first grandchild. Mason David Arthur Penner was born April 13, 2003 and Grandpa Peters has enjoyed every precious moment spent with him. He worked for Canada Safeway for 40 years (1957 - 1997) as a buyer and promotions coordinator. He served on the Safeway Employees Credit Union as a director and president (1965 - 1988). He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, love, and generosity. His devotion was first to God and then his family. Arthur was always inspiring us to keep the faith, to persevere, to never give up, and to do our best. He was our pillar of strength - a devoted husband, Dad, grandpa, brother, friend, uncle, and great-uncle. Arthur was an active member of Grant Memorial Baptist Church for over 36 years - serving on the Deacon Board, Missions Committee, as a Sunday School Teacher, and a Youth Leader. Besides his wife and family, he is survived by three brothers, Paul, George (Myrtle), Henry; and three sisters, Neta (John) Warkentin, Ruth (John) Inglis, and Louise Kokot; brothers-in-law, Skip Estelle, and Jake (Ruth) Buhler; sister-in-law Anne (Roy) Seib; brother-in-law Terry (Fern) Panke, and their families. He was predeceased by his father and mother Henry and Aganeta; two sisters, Helen Estelle and Anne Buhler; one niece Michelle; and in-laws, Sam and Eileen Panke. Special thanks to our Palliative Care team - Rose, Gillian, Sam and Kevin; nurses - Myrna, Kristin and Corrine. Viewing will take place on Sunday, September 21 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Arthurs life will be held on Monday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Grant Memorial Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grant Memorial Baptist Church to be used for Bird River Bible Camp and Missions Projects.
